FAQs
Can we visit the garden outside of exhibition times?
Yes, by appointment only. Contact us to organise a date and time. We’ll meet your group at the gate to cover a few health and safety points, you can then wander about on your own, or enjoy a guided tour. Outside of exhibition times, there is no toilet available.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, providing they are well behaved and on a lead, and you take their poop with you. Please note, the sculpture garden is home to dogs and chickens.
How long do I need to walk around?
Most people take an hour. Some bring a picnic and enjoy a leisurely two hours. Allow a minimum of 40 minutes, but you may wish to sit, relax, reflect, talk or wander for longer. There are seats throughout the garden.
What should I bring or wear?
Comfortable shoes, a sunhat, sunblock, a raincoat and your water bottle (there are taps to fill up at). The sculpture garden is in a sheltered valley and when it’s grey and drizzly in town it’s usually fine and clear out here.
How do I get to Tai Tapu?
Tai Tapu is a small town located 6 km east of Lincoln township and 18 km south west of Christchurch on State Highway 75. It's about 20 minutes’ drive south of Christchurch city.
See our Contact page for a map.
Can we drive down the driveway?
Yes, there is room for parking at the entrance to the garden. See the map for more information. During the Annual Autumn Exhibition there is parking in the paddock further up the drive, behind the sculpture garden.
Can I take photos?
Yes, but only for personal use, please. Feel free to share these on Facebook and other social media sites.
Where is the nearest place to have lunch?
The Raspberry Cafe is less than a five-minute drive from the garden and offers delicious fare, from the cabinet and off the menu. The Store @ Tai Tapuapu is another local favourite.
